NuType Support

Help for dictation shortcuts, microphone permissions, text insertion, providers, and local-first voice input.

Getting started

Open NuType, grant microphone and speech permissions, choose your shortcut, then hold it to dictate into the current text field.

Permissions

Microphone and speech recognition are used for dictation. Accessibility or input permissions may be required for inserting text into other apps.

Shortcut and insertion

If text does not appear, check that the target app has an active cursor and that NuType has the permissions requested by macOS.

Speech and AI providers

NuType can use local or user-configured providers for transcription and cleanup. API keys are stored locally on your Mac.

Troubleshooting

Try restarting NuType after changing permissions, confirm the selected provider is available, and test dictation in a simple text field first.
